Hours: Full-time, Weekends, Holidays, 8hr shifts
Working as a Dispatcher you’ll answer emergency and non-emergency calls and perform dispatch services for Police, Fire, and Ambulance services using a variety of electronic communications equipment. After extensive training, make critical decisions while handling several tasks at once and maintain control of radio and telephone conversations. Work assigned shift and during disaster situation, be available for call and able to return to work on short notice. Use computer system to perform inquiries and relay retrieved data to requestor. Hours: Shift work, weekends, holidays, 8 hour shifts.
Requirements:
- Must pass a 35 WPM typing test and dispatcher test before an application will be accepted.
- Applicant must be a high school graduate or passed a general educational development test (GED).
- Must have good credit.
- Must not have any felony convictions.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- May be subject to polygraph exam.
- Knowledge of computer entry and retrieval skills.
- Must be able to write legibly and speak clearly and fluently.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and general public.
- Must be able to bend or stoop to retrieve and lift files, books, or other materials weighing 10-15 lbs.
- Must have a valid operator’s license with a good driving record.
- Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
